Renewable heating & cooling, workshop organized in Brussels on Tuesday 9th of May, with cooperation of involved EC officers, by Leen Peeters

I am contacting you related a study we are performing in cooperation with the European Commission (DG RTD) on its research and innovation policies in the area of renewable energy.

The study, led by EY, supports the EC in an endeavor to use efficiently the TRL (Technology Readiness Level) scale as a key indicator for R&I programs focusing on renewable energy technologies. In a first step, we assessed the current state of play in the use of TRL in the field of 10 renewable energy technologies. In this phase, some of your colleagues might have been involved already.

We have now reached the phase in the project of developing a set of guiding principles explaining how to address TRL for the different technologies, i.e. developing a new TRL scale.

In the whole project we want to involve as many as possible relevant stakeholders from the renewable energy field, as they will have to work in the future with the new TRL scales (e.g. in the H2020 and new funding programs). To involve the stakeholders for renewable heating & cooling, a workshop will be organized in Brussels on Tuesday 9th of May, with cooperation of involved EC officers.

The focus of the workshop is to come to an agreement on the newly developed TRL scale for renewable heating and cooling energy. We are looking for renewable energy experts throughout whole Europe. Travel costs and expenses will be reimbursed by EY (up to a maximum of 450 EUR upon presentation of receipts).

Registration can be done through this link.

Would you be interested to participate in the workshop? And/or would it be possible to distribute this mail towards your colleagues and/or research partners, as to reach as many experts as possible that might be interested to attend? We think this is a great opportunity for your institute to give your direct contribution to the upcoming new TRL definition that will be used in H2020 and upcoming European grant programs, and thus enabling a more informed policy making and allocation of EU funding for the future of your sector. In the meeting will be experts from DG RTD and other experts, so it will be a networking opportunity for the participants as well.

I remain at your disposal if you have further questions.

Thank you very much in advance for your kind cooperation!

Best regards,

Leen Peeters

P.S.

  • We are also organizing similar workshops for the other renewable energy technologies. I also give the information below for completeness, which may of course be distributed to the relevant departments:
